**ViNtaGe** Mercury Glass Globe Shade ~ Re-Purposed!*!*!

 It's now time for me to start "Fussing-Up" ~ My-Own-Home for the HoLiDays!*!*!  I've started the "nesting process" for the long winter season ahead, - sorting, packing, & rearranging all my SHaBBies from this past Season...  I'm almost always rewarded by coming across something I had long forgotten about...  Such was the case as I came across a FaB ViNtaGe Find that I netted from the Iowa Junk Gypsies...  When I spotted this time-worn ViNtaGe Mercury Glass Globe Shade, I had a pretty good idea what my plans were for it...

I have the large globe flipped over ~ resting on a vintage plateau mirror...

 a much desired silver loss patina...  Adding a candle in a glass holder, most certainly will enhance this time~worn patina...

 I added some springs of "G*R*E*E*N*S from our garden, along with a sweet BiRdiE Adornment, painted silver acorns & leaves...

A unique, one-of-a-kind re-purposed F*I*N*D, 

 not only for the HoLiDay Season, but long into January as well...

One of my weaknesses is ViNtaGe Mirrors!!!  I especially LoVe the Old Ones ~ that have acquired a unique silver loss patina...  It's a plus if the frame is chippy old white paint & a bit ornate...

 Just in past few months I've been drawn to "frame-less" Old Mirrors...  Frame-less Mirrors work standing up... hung... or lying flat to adorn this & that...  I have to say ~ the little Bird/Mirror is my #1 most cherished FiNd!*!*!

A lot of frame-less old mirrors have wonderful "etching" on them...  I recently picked up the mirror on the lower right at Viva la Cottage in Door County,...  LoVe it's silver-loss patina!*!*!

 

 This mirror had fabulous silver loss patina - SOLD some years back...

 Although the mirror on the left, no longer has "reflective" viewing - it's patina is just awesome!!!  The chippy white frame couldn't get any better either...

 I just LoVe Tri-Mirrors!!!  They work so well above a couch, above a sideboard, resting on the back edge of cabinet, mixed in a grouping etc.  Almost always they have "etching"...  I love when I find them with a beautiful ornate crest on top!!!  This one is long gone...

 I also Love Old Mirrors with "chippy gesso/plaster"...  This one has some beautiful flowers...

Mirror Mirror On the Wall ~ who's the fairest of them All??? - I'd have to say ~ it's this one in our home...  I looked for it for years!!!  A Kane County Flea Market Find...

**LoVe** My ChiPPy!-SHaBBy! Bling!*!*!

I'll have to admit ~ I'M EXHAUSTED!!! - THREE "SHaBBy Shows" in a row along with everything else going on in my life right now ~ has me putting my feet up TODAY!!!  HOWEVER, it's "full-speed-ahead" ~ Tomorrow, as I head out early to shop the Kane County Flea Market in Illinois!!!  I'll be ON-THE-HUNT for some last minute "SHaBBies" to add to my already FaB Stash that's going to the NORTHWIND PERENNIAL FARM ANTIQUE GARDEN SHOW - June 10th & 11th, in Burlington Wisconsin - just minutes from Lake Geneva...  In the meantime, here's some "eye-candy bling"...

Here in Wisconsin, the view from my window looks like a "SNOW GLOBE"!!! Forecast - 4 inches...  I long for a glimpse of SpRiNg ~ which is WAY TOOOOOO MANY MONTHS AWAY...  In the meantime, I can reflect on things "that make me think of Spring" ~ B I R D I E S!*!*!

Let's Talk MIRRORS...

Let's Talk WHITE...

For the most part as a seller, I like to stock/sell "items I love"...  In my mind, there are two styles of "SHABBY"  ~ A NATURAL TIME-WORN PATINA -or- SHABBY-PAINTED & DISTRESSED... My personal preference is a natural time-worn patina that only time can produce, but I've come to find that some people prefer "freshly-painted" vintage items that are slightly distressed...  Both have Sold Well for me in the past... ~ It's just a matter of personal preference...  Both of these SHaBBy Styles work well together...

If I'm going to spend the time "SHaBBy-Painting" a vintage item, it has to have "interesting form"...  I painted the flowers a slightly warmer shade of white than the rest of the frame, and lightly distressed them... 

This Mirror WAS such an ugly color - but it had such LOVELY DETAILS!!!  Painting it WHITE changed everything...  There are sooooo many shades of white ~ that "white-on-white" still shows off the mirror...

Here's the mirror on a "dark wall"...  It REALLY POPS!!!

Just Sweet!*!*!  Endless placement possibilities...

 I usually take my time and seek-out "Precious Little Fussies" for my shadow boxes / curio cabinet displays after I satisfy "my fix" at the Flea Markets...  I soooo enjoy doing this...   OMG!*!*!  This is my current "most favorite" 2-die-4 SHaBBy Delight in quite a while...   I just couldn't wait any longer to show it to all of you!!! ~ I don't even have it hung on the wall just yet...  Sooooooo PeRfeCtly ChiPPy!*!*!  It took months to find "just the right ChiPPy!-SHaBBy! vintage items for this vignette...  Do click on pics to get a closer peek!!!

Weather Prediction ~ Upper 70's & Sunny!!!

FaB "Old-SHaBBy" MiRRor!*!*! ~ It's Up!!!

Staying home this weekend enabled us to get quite a few things done around the house...  Some of you might remember pics of  ***My AwEsoMe Mirror Find*** from the Kane County Flea Market in Illinois, this past May...   Well, that 2-die-4 GoRgeOuS Beauty is NOW HUNG in my bathroom!!!  It looks just as Fab as I had envisioned!!!   I had been shopping for "just the right one" for almost 3 years!*!*!  (click on pics to enlarge for better detail...

  AmaZinG Ornate Top Crest Details...

I Love the hints of time~worn "silver loss patina"...  It lends sooooo much character to the piece...  I don't think I could buy a vintage mirror without it!

The ornate details are made of GESSO ~ a plaster of sort...  It has taken on many a hairline crackling ~ YES!!!   The old white paint, hairline crackling, & subtle chips here and there add soooo much unique vintage charm to this piece!*!*!

This ViNtaGe Mirror is hung on a wall adjacent to my large soaking tub...  I LOVE MY TUB!!!  A Chandelier hangs above...  and I have a couple Seashell Candelabras surrounding the area...  We're lucky enough to have outdoor privacy ~ allowing the shutters to be open during the day...

 Here I am at Kane County ~ just minutes after I netted my AwEsoMe Find!!!  I'm sooooo glad I forked-out the extra bucks for this one!!!  

On Another Note...  "REGRETS-LATER"...   You know how sometimes you get home and are sooooo sorry you didn't purchase a certain vintage find????  - Because you've now found the perfect spot for it in your home??? ~ Well, a good number of you have emailed me to see if an item from one of my most recent sales is still available....
