Cedar Creek Antiques...

OMG!*!*! I finally got around to bringing some "Bling-Bling" HoLiDaY items over to our local CEDAR CREEK ANTIQUE Shop located at the Cedar Creek Settlement in the old mill - Cedarburg, Wisconsin... I have a very small spot in the hallway to display my shabby items in exchange for doing the hall display... My husband has a booth with old bottles inside the shop... I find it a real challenge to work with all the old brown stuff the other dealers have... Over the years my good customers from flea markets and home sales find my shabby items for sale in the hall during my off season of outdoor selling... ViNtaGe Mirrors w/Patina....

"Old Mirrors" with silver-loss patina is a major weakness of mine... I can't stop buying them!*!*! The frames ALWAYS have to be original chippy old white paint... Here is one I picked up just a couple weeks ago... The "barbola flower frame" couldn't get any better!*!*! I just love the "silver loss crinkling" on the right lower edge... RoAdSiDe FiNds... Free $$$ On The Curb!*!*!

First you see it... Instinct kicks in... You slow down... Get out of the car... You access the situation... Is it really the right distance from the curb, to be free for the taking??? - after all, she did have a pumpkin sitting on it... I begin to look it over... How much can I make??? Can I lift it into the car myself??? What season will it sell in??? Where will I store it??? - Winter is around the corner... It's an outdoor item... If I need to paint it, how much time will I spend??? Is it really worth it??? Is it easy to repair??? Does it have good form/character??? How desirable is it really??? How can I display it to make it more sellable??? This is the "self-talk process" I went through yesterday when I saw this table near the curb... Some items are a no brainer - it gets tossed in the back of the car & I quickly speed away hoping no one saw me... Others like this one, I chose to pull away empty-handed...

The Approach... Is it a good one???

The table still haunted me hours later... I went back... As I got closer, a sinking feeling came over me... I think it's gone... I want it even more now... NO - it was STILL THERE... I guess I made the right decision - I left with an empty car again... Roadside Finds don't happen very often for me, but when I come across a good one - it makes for a fun time ~ especially if it's a keeper!*!*!

I would LoVe to have this parked in front of one of my SaLeS!!!

This CONCRETE TURKEY PLANTER is one of my favorite finds!*!*! It has a PeRfeCtly weathered PaTiNa... I picked up the darling little industrial metal stool at Kane a couple weeks ago... I love putting out the (smaller turkey planter) filled with spoons/forks on the Thanksgiving dessert table...

My ViNtaGe Turkeys ~ some are Gurley Candles... Some Paper Mache... Some Ceramic w/Japan Labels... The tall display stand they're on is just AwEsoMe! ~ I should have taken some colorful detail pics ~ chippy, crusty, rusty, old green paint!!!

This ViNtaGe Turkey Platter is an AwEsoMe Advertising Piece from a Furniture Company in N.C.

SuNdAy*** "Grayslake Flea Market"...

This past weekend was GRAYSLAKE FLEA MARKET... Even though we're working on getting my car in the garage for winter, how could I not go with the "gorgeous weather" we had - 67 degrees in Chicago!*!*!*! and Milwaukee wasn't that far off either... Joan's Booth is ALWAYS interesting... ~ She puts sooooo much effort into her unique displays... A real detail person...

I almost always find a treasure in Georgeann's Booth (hope I got your name right...) YOU are such a pleasure to chat with! I would say her main collectible/love is "Vintage Linens", although I've come away with some FaBuLoUs chippy... shabby... crusty... rusty... finds over the years too!*!*!*!

You can find anything from vintage barkcloth, 50's table cloths, doilies, & chenille in Georgeann's booth...

With the GoRgeOuS weather, there were lots of outside vendors... Janice is one of my favorite sellers!*!*! I love chatting with her on the run... I've bought some key keeper pieces from her over the years... Janice you are a treasure!*!*!

Delafield Antique Show...

Yesterday I took off work just a bit early in order to go to the DELAFIELD ANTIQUE SHOW... This show is held twice a year in a fancy hotel about an hour from us... In my opinion, it's a rather stuffy show - with "mint condition" antiques - definitely NOT CHIPPY-SHABBY... It's still fun to look and on occasion Jeff has been known to come home with a bottle for resale... It's RARE that I find something...

My "most favorite" place in our entire house is my "jewelry nook" !*!*! I just love ALL THE BLING!!! Here is just a "sneak peak"... The chippy BUST - "Norah Rose" is my main focus on top of a plateau mirror... I adorn her with necklaces & vintage millinery... I have a large chippy white shabby candelabra to the left that holds most of my necklaces - it's a beauty!*!*! I love mirrors with patina - this one makes a PeRfeCt back drop...
