ViNtaGe Millinery ~ Pretty Flower Trim!*!*!

Most people think of "Ladies Hats" when "Vintage Millinery" is mentioned... ~  I on the other hand think of the delicate flower trim pieces used in this hat making process...  I have found these precious little flower adornments to add  "just the right touch of sweetness" to items such as:  statues... shadow boxes... doll pin cushions... jean jackets , sweaters... etc.   When I was at "Warrenton, Texas" this past Fall, I bought up a ton of this old millinery in a booth near Zapp Hall...  I have found great delight adorning this that and the other...  See for yourself!  Some of this old millinery still retains it's delicate paper tags ~ made in Japan...  There are all shapes and sizes, some with original pin backs still attached... (For better detail - click on pics to enlarge!)

***Sweet SHaBBy Vintage Adornments*** ~ It's All In The DETAIL!*!*!

As I walked around the house yesterday looking at all my "sweet little vintage things", it made me wonder  - what was it exactly that drew me to this piece in the first place, & what made each one so special...   Each has a prominent detailed characteristic...   PaTinA... ShApe/FoRm... CoLoR... TeXtuRe... BLiNg...

"Red Berries" in SNoW!*!*!

With Winter's White Background Pallet...  Nature's Red Berries REALLY POP!*!*!

These beautiful berries stay on the tree till "SpRiNg"...  With Spring's thawing process, the berries change into on a fermented alcohol-like substance...  As the birds begin to feast, they "honestly" - get silly - flying into each other & the windows...  Quite a site to see!*!*!

***Birdies in SNoW!*!*! & the HoLiDaY***

With Christmas Day now behind, I can only think of the extremely long... cold... winter ahead of us here in Wisconsin... I know I'm not alone in this thinking... Once the glistening holiday decorations get put away - January seems to last forever... Hibernation sets in... Road Trips are so weather dependent... The lack of sun... The pasty white skin... The extra pounds from little exercise... All the extra gear "on & off" - hats, scarves, gloves, long underwear, boots... Bad hair days... Sooooooo - I try and find delights "in the smallest of things"... ***BiRdiEs *** ~ being one of them...

This little time~worn birdie on a stick adds some whimsy to our winter wonderland...

I snapped this pic of our resident woodpecker some days ago when the snow was still fluffy... He is soooooo handsome!*!*!

Bird Feeder just outside our kitchen window...

A gorgeous cardinal waiting his turn on the feeder...

This is "last year's" roadside vignette at our driveway entrance... My husband surprised me some years ago on Christmas - with the AwEsoMe Black Crows - out in the snow - Christmas Morning... The Crows are a permanent fixture, year round, on an old stump at our driveway entrance...

We had one of "The BeSt" Christmas Eves this year ~ just the "3" of us...
Quite Nostalgic ~ got out the "Old 1960's Phonograph" & played records as we opened our gifts... I just loved the "scratchy background sound"!*!*! Good Bye C-D's!!!

*** The Year it didn't SNoW *** in Wisconsin...

Like many people at this time of year ~ I tend to take a "look back" at my life ~ ponder... think... review... Since creating eye-catching vignettes is such a passion for me, I find great joy in re-visiting past displays... Some I look at and say ~ "really, what was I thinking"!!! -OR- "I've lost my touch - haven't done anything that creative in years"... -OR- "I had to be CrAZy to have SoLd that item"... Any which way, these are all just observations/opinions... In this struggling economy, with many a magazine ceasing to be published, I do hope some of my vignettes inspire others as much as YOUR pics have me...

This vignette was near the roadside by our driveway entrance about 4 years ago... With a Garden Theme in Mind, I wanted to honor "ViNtaGe Christmas" ... It eventually did snow AFTER the Holidays, that year... I found that when ornaments get wet in cold and snow ~ it creates a wonderful time-worn patina!!!

Sorry to have SoLd this!*!*! I would just die for this now!!! ~ infact, I've looked for other old victorian "bird-nest" ornament - not finding one as nice as this...
I sold this during my winter Ebay SaLes - 2 years ago...

Wouldn't this have looked beautiful by our front door with a dusting of SnOw???
My Cousin in Nevada dries these Pommegranites for me & ships them to Wisconsin... They last in storage for quite a few years... I've tried drying them here - but it's just toooo damp... I love the true Red/Green "Christmas Holiday Flavor" they lend...

I put this wonderful Fruit Wreath on our front door just about every year around Holiday time... I bought it from my friend Julie mega years ago... With it's Fruit Theme, come January - it's still nice to have it displayed...

Cedarburg WI - "Old Stone Buildings in the snow...

Cedarburg - Wisconsin IS SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL WITH A DUSTING OF SNOW on the old 1800's stone buildings...Cedarburg is located about 25 miles north of Milwaukee, and about 3 miles from Lake Michigan... Our main street is "2" very long, city blocks... Cedar Creek runs behind all of the stores on the east side of the street, with a historic old mill on both ends... Yesterday I spent my lunch hour taking some festive holiday stone buildng/snow pics for you to enjoy!*!*! (click on any picture to enlarge... feedback/comments is appreciated...)

I just had to toss-in this heart warming candle vignette that Diane dreamed up last weekend! ~ how creative!*!*!

We had a cozy winter's fire a few nights ago at our home...
